Between May 2 and 4, the Conference of the Latin American M&A Committee of the International Bar Association – IBA, was held in São Paulo, Brazil. The event was the first face-to-face in the region since November 2019.
Chirgwin was represented by the international associate Raquel Frattini and by Débora Brasil, who recently joined the Firm to take charge of the Brazilian Desk. The panels mainly dealt with the current condition of transactions in the region, considering issues such as gender, economic crisis, war and, of course, the COVID 19 pandemic.
Chirgwin representatives had the opportunity to attend special events parallel to the conference. Débora participated in the Training Course for Young Lawyers and Raquel was present at the breakfast in which Flavia Piovesan was interviewed about the role of women today.
The opportunity to see friends from other countries in the region and also meet new members of the Association was greatly appreciated. Social events are essential for this important activity for business development. The closing cocktail of the conference was held at the Museu da Casa Brasileira, a traditional space in the southern part of the city of São Paulo, which has a garden of 8 thousand square meters, which made the instance of Outdoor networking very nice.
We look forward to the next edition of the Regional Conference to be held in Cartagena, Colombia, and look forward to meeting IBA friends from all over the world again in person at the annual Conference in Miami, 2022.
