Mónica Ortega

Lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a Master’s in Environmental Issues from Universidad Finis Terrae. Since 2000 Mónica has worked mainly in environmental and regulatory issues, especially Water Rights, and Electric and Environmental Law.

She has worked as counsel for law firms, for the Chilean Government agency Dirección General de Aguas, and for ENGIE (former GDF-SUEZ) where she focused on Water Law, Energy, Environmental Permits, Indigenous Rights, mining permits, electricity easements, and due diligence processes.

She has acted as advisor for wind, solar, and hydroelectric plants, and was awarded a recommendation in Best Lawyer in 2012 for Water Rights matters. She also worked as Senior Lawyer and Head of Natural Resources and the Environmental Group at the Del Río Izquierdo law firm in Santiago.
